Cameroon Petrochemical Engineering Academy wants to welcome all Cameroonians aspiring to become engineers in the international oil and gas industry. Sometime in 2009, the Growth and Employment Strategic Paper of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) which was the Framework for Government Action over the Period 2010 to 2020 made mention of ‘MATCHING TRAINING WITH JOB PROFILES’ as a means to eradicate unemployment and poverty in Cameroon. The oil and gas industry of Cameroon needs to match their training with job profiles of investors.

Particularly in Oil and Gas Industry, the International Oil and Gas Human Resource Environment is undergoing technical reconstruction and Cameroon is not an exception. The Oil and Gas Human Resource Environment of Cameroon also needs to be made technically conducive for the oil and gas investors by training Cameroonians to get certificates and certifications with international recognitions hence meeting the job profiles of these international investors. The numbers of jobs in the international oil and gas industry are expected to move in a positive trend between 2014 and 2040 at a rate of over 10%.

It should not come as a surprise to Cameroonians that the international oil and gas industry has the highest paying jobs worldwide. Apart from designing equipment and developing methods for extraction of oil, skilled employees must also work with a whole lot of other professionals to make sure that they have the best possible methods of extraction in place.

To begin with, anyone looking to BECOME AN OIL AND GAS ENGINEER needs;
To procure a degree from a reputable school or college but procuring diverse qualifications in the same field will increase your chances of getting employed with a rather attractive pay package. A bachelor’s degree is the most basic requirement for a job in the oil and gas industry, with other accredited programs in oil and gas engineering for students looking to specialize in the oil and gas industry. So training institutions should offer five year courses which should be followed up by a master’s degree in the oil and gas specialty.

There are certainly advantages to obtaining your masters, and having a stronger quantitative skill set is definitely one of these advantages. Again, on-field work is another important part of these courses, including internships or industrial attachments.

Associations or Certifications from a worldwide recognized organization always helps your cause of getting a job. Thus getting hold of accreditation or certifications is sure to make it much easier for you to spot jobs of your choice and also get paid much higher. Apart from being qualified with a degree, successful oil and gas engineer should have some natural skills, passion and curiosity. Since oil and gas engineers are faced with constantly evolving challenges each day, creativity is another important personal attribute one must possess. Similarly, you must be a good team player and must possess impeccable communication skills to be able to work in large groups.

Considering the fact that a good number of the oil and gas investors in Cameroon needing skilled workers to use for the realization of their projects come from highly developed nations in the world, if we have to prepare the oil and gas human resource environment of Cameroon conducive for their usage, we need to use the same training platforms they are using for the training of their human resource to train Cameroonians. We further need to let our graduates obtain international certifications from certification bodies reputable and popular to these international investors.

As a strategy for the technical reconstruction of the oil and gas human resource environment of Cameroon rendering it conducive for international oil and gas investors, Cameroon Petrochemical Engineering Academy (CPE Academy) is using a competency-base international training platform blended with both classroom and petroleum software plan to train Cameroonians in collaboration with a worldwide leading institution in the oil and gas training since 1969 and other local universities. Over 100 Oil and Gas Institutions worldwide (Including Universities) are also using this petroleum software, not leaving out the Society of Petroleum Engineering (SPE International) which is the largest professional body for petroleum engineers having over 149,000 members worldwide.

Therefore Cameroon Petrochemical Engineering Academy is announcing to every Cameroonian family that they are capable to develop the oil and gas human resource environment of Cameroon to meet the international job market standards. It is projected that graduates from CPE Academy, will be holders of their professional certificates, international accreditation and members of the SPE International and The Society of Geosciences Cameroon.
